When a brand such as BoConcept stages a Style Night to reveal their new collection, in which they bring together several luxury brands to host a spectacular party at their shop in Barcelona, it was certain that IT Hunter would be there to share it with you.

Faced with this challenge, we let them treat us like kings and enjoyed gin tasting, courtesy of our friends from Bobby Gin, and some delicious Godiva chocolates that Joan shared with us throughout the night. It was not just about eating, though, it was a night for the senses also; luxury and fashion were replicated in the atmosphere of the store design to offer their guests the comfort they deserve.

We’re bringing you some photos of the night, what a good life we lead, don’t you think?

Cuando una marca como BoConcept desvela en una Style Night su nueva colección, y además para ello reúne a varias marcas de lujo para poner en escena una fiesta espectacular en su tienda de Barcelona, estaba claro que IT Hunter estaría presente para poder compartirlo con vosotros.

Ante semejante reto, nos dejamos tratar como unos reyes y disfrutamos de una cata de ginebras, cortesía de nuestros amigos de Bobby Gin, o los deliciosos chocolates Godiva que Joan compartió toda la noche con nosotros. Aunque no se trataba solamente de comer, era también una noche para los sentidos; moda y lujo se mimetizaban en medio del diseño de la tienda que ofrecía a sus invitados la comodidad que se merecen.

Os dejamos con algunas de las fotos de la noche, qué buena vida llevamos, ¿no?

Photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin has been the one in charge of giving shape to the new video presentation of next Fall/Winter collection by Maison Dior, named Secret Garden and shot in the representative Palace of Versailles, in Paris.

It’s not easy to avoid carefully analyzing all the messages sent by the house of Dior after this stormy period of speculations and silence, broken -at last- a month ago with the confirmation of Raf Simons as the new creative director, after John Galliano’s departure.

It is a fact that the Palace of Versailles has been intrinsically linked to the House since its early beginnings -as a source of inspiration, as the ideal location or even to name its designs after some of its different areas; however, in this moment of changes and fresh air that is supposed to arrive soon it seems even funny to find a wink in the musical selection of the video. Choosing Enjoy the Silence, by Depeche Mode, after a long period of such about its new direction seems, at least, kind of symbolic.

La pareja de fotógrafos Inez van Lamsweerde y Vinoodh Matadin son los encargados de dar forma al nuevo vídeo presentación de la colección para el próximo Otoño/Invierno de la casa Dior, titulado Secret Garden y rodado en el representativo Palacio de Versalles, en París.

No es fácil dejar de analizar minuciosamente los mensajes de la casa Dior tras este borrascoso periodo de especulaciones y silencios, roto -al fin- hace un mes con la confirmación de Raf Simons como nuevo director creativo tras la marcha de John Galliano.

Que el Palacio de Versalles ha estado ligado intrínsecamente a la casa desde sus inicios -en forma de inspiración directa, localización ideal o incluso tomando los nombres de algunos de sus salones para bautizar ciertos diseños- es un hecho; sin embargo, en este momento de cambios y aires nuevos que se aproximan resulta divertido encontrar un guiño en la elección musical del vídeo. Que la banda sonora elegida sea Enjoy the Silence de Depeche Mode, tras el largo mutismo de la casa respecto a su nuevo rumbo, resulta como poco caprichosamente simbólico.

Truth is that not even in my best dreams could I’ve had imagined a better way to start writing for IT Hunter than with a DIY meeting. The dream came true thanks to two exceptional parts: Alfa and La Casita de Wendy.

The big event took place on one of those needed rainy afternoons in Madrid. Alfa called a crowd of bloggers before the famous haberdashery Pontejos. After some quick and timid introductions, we were led to La Casita de Wendy’s “El Estudio” where the magic began. Colored garlands welcomed us and behind them, Inés and Ivan, as charming as I had imagined them.

After a snack to regain strength and a short presentation by Alpha about their DIY manifesto, we got to work. We had to produce a bag, for which we had two alternative techniques: printing and patchwork. I opted for the latter, but I must say that the intrepid fellows who did prints caused great envy on me with their results. Needless to say it was an enjoyable evening, where I was reminded you don’t need that much to make something beautiful with your own hands.

Lo cierto es que ni en mis mejores sueños hubiera podido imaginar otro modo mejor de empezar a escribir para IT Hunter que con una sesión de DIY en toda regla. Tal sueño se convertía en realidad gracias a dos artífices de excepción: Alfa y La Casita de Wendy.

El gran acontecimiento tuvo lugar una tarde lluviosa de esas que tanta falta hacen en Madrid, en la que Alfa citó a un nutrido tropel de bloggers delante de la mítica mercería Pontejos. Después de unas rápidas y tímidas presentaciones, nos llevaron a “El Estudio” de La Casita de Wendy y allí comenzó la magia. Guirnaldas de colores nos daban la bienvenida y tras ellas, nos esperaban Inés e Iván, tan simpáticos como me los había imaginado.

Después de una merienda para reponer fuerzas y una pequeña presentación de Alfa y su DIY manifiesto, nos pusimos manos a la obra. El objetivo era elaborar un bolso, para lo que contábamos con dos técnicas alternativas: la estampación y el patchwork. Yo opté por la última, pero debo decir que las intrépidas compañeras que tomaron como opción los sellos me provocaron gran envidia con sus resultados. Sobra decir que fue una tarde muy divertida y es que no hace falta complicarse mucho la vida para confeccionar algo bonito con nuestras propias manos.

One of my biggest and most amazing discoveries when I first got to L.A. was this radio station called The Sound, which slogan I have used as the title of this entry. Their never-ending repertoire of the biggest rock classics of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s -since the day I found it tuned in in the second-hand car we bought when we arrived- has turned out to be the perfect soundtrack for my days in the West Coast: The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Dire Straits… There’s no one missing there. Every day: pure perfection.

When I thought this couldn’t get any better I arrived -totally by chance- to this little and nice town called San Juan Capistrano where, among many other things, is this amazing place Swallow’s Inn; live music and an amazing atmosphere, all wrapped in a mix of memories, in the shape of T-shirts, car plates and bras hanging on the walls.

The day we were there we even were lucky enough to meet Dalton Gang playing; since the very first moment I got into the bar, listening to their version of Rebel Yell by Billy Idol I became a total fan.

Una de mis más grandes y placenteros descubrimientos al llegar a Los Ángeles fue esta emisora de radio llamada The Sound, cuyo slogan me ha servido para titular este post. Su interminable repertorio de los más grandes clásicos del rock de los 60, 70 y 80 ponen -desde el día que la encontré sintonizada en el coche de segunda mano que compramos nada más llegar- la banda sonora perfecta a mis días en la Costa Oeste: The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Dire Straits… No falta ninguna. Todos los días: pura perfección.

Cuando creía que la cosa ya no podía mejorar más caigo -muy, muy de casualidad- en este pequeño y pintoresco pueblito llamado San Juan Capistrano donde, entre otras cosas, se encuentra este sitio tan especial que es Swallow’s Inn; música en directo y un ambiente espectacular envuelto en una especie de amalgama de recuerdos a base de fotos antiguas, matrículas de coche, camisetas y sujetadores colgando del techo.

El día que fuimos nosotros tuvimos, además, la suerte de encontrar tocando en directo a Dalton Gang que no tuvieron que hacer mucho más para conquistarme que tocar Rebel Yell de Billy Idol. Desde entonces, ya no pude ser más fan.

I’ve been having this kind of phobia with safari trend for a long time now and it has always been a quite personal issue. Until today, I sincerely doubted I could change my mind some day. For reasons against my own will, at some point in my life, I spent six months designing trousers amidst the fever of the multi-pocket khaki cargo pant. Six months. Every day. Multi-pocket khaki cargos all the way.

However, this new vision by photographer Rafael Stahelin with model Kasia Struss -recently published in February issue of Vogue Korea- full of flowers and with amazing stylings by Ye Young Kim mixing safari with ethnic prints, beige and other natural shades, manages to fiercely shake my initial doubts.

Mi fobia con el tema del safari es algo personal que ya viene de lejos y, hasta hoy, dudaba sinceramente que algún día mis inclinaciones hacia esta tendencia pudieran variar lo más mínimo. Por razones ajenas a mi voluntad, en algún momento de mi vida pasé seis meses diseñando pantalones, en pleno furor del cargo multibolsillos, en todas las variantes del color caqui. Seis meses. Todos los días. Cargo multibolsillos caqui a tutiplén.

Sin embargo, esta nueva visión del fotógrafo Rafael Stahelin -publicada recientemente en el número de Febrero de Vogue Korea- repleta de flores y con unos preciosos estilismos de Ye Young Kim en los que el safari se mezcla con los prints étnicos, el beige y otros tonos naturales, logra tambalear muy seriamente mis dudas iniciales.

Sneaking in is one of the things music editors do best: concerts, private parties, backstage areas, press conferences… Where the power lies these days is in the moment that artists unveil their musical secrets and being the first to know them, or being revealed who produced which album and why, or more personal issues such as to whom they dedicated the title track of their album; these are the things that, over time, you find pleasure in, and become part of being the “cast” as you go around from event to event.

Many times, armed with courage, I have approached various artists requesting interviews that I knew they would probably reject, have given out my business card (just in case) or have enjoyed the luxury of sharing the men’s room with the bass-guitarist of some band that is about to go on stage and have been able to wish him “Good luck!”. These are the routines that you repeat with both good and bad results but that, when done with a bit of charisma, can often come to fruition.

Last year I had lots of joyous moments at Sónar, where it was possible to see bands like Katy B or Four Tet amongst others, from whom we got a smile backstage and some very good shots during their historic shows.

This year we’ll be back, and we’ll be there to hear Lana del Rey performing live -who we presented here last September when we were still unaware of what a phenomenon she would become by this time this year-, also to celebrate the first performance of our dear friends Stand Up Against Heart Crime at Sónar 2012 or for one of the bands who woke our curiosity when we discovered their hugely successful song ‘Kelly‘, and which we have not stopped listening to ever since we presented it.

Today the band we are bringing to you all is surely going to steal your hearts with their live performance, they are who everybody can’t stop talking about right now; Metronomy, with their latest album The English Riviera, and a song that we have as number one on our Youtube list, The Look, an incredible hit in their career so far, and surely a band that many of you are waiting to see during their upcoming European tour.

Needless to say more, Sónar 2012 is an event not to be missed. We will be going to see it in Barcelona, but this year there are versions of the event in São Paulo, Tokyo and Cape Town, the perfect opportunity to help those around the world enjoy the great artists that this event has offered us, and if someone would care to lend us their couch while we go to all these festivals, so much the better!!

Colarnos es una de las cosas que mejor se nos da a los editores musicales: en los conciertos, en las fiestas privadas, en el backstage, en las reuniones de prensa… El poder reside hoy en día en la hora en que los artistas desvelan sus secretos musicales y que seas el primero en saberlo, o lograr descubrir quién produjo qué álbum y por qué, o temas más personales como a quién va dedicada la canción principal de un disco, son a esas cosas a las que, con el tiempo, acabas encontrándole el gusto y que pasan a formar parte de esos “colados” que vamos por ahí de evento en evento.

Muchas veces, armado de valentía, me he acercado a algún artista proponiendo entrevistas que ya sabía que denegarían, entregando mi tarjeta profesional (por si acaso) o permitiéndome el lujo de compartir el baño de hombres con el bajista-guitarrista de algún grupo que está a punto de salir al escenario, pudiendo soltarle un “¡Buena suerte!”. Son rutinas que se repiten con buenos o malos resultados, pero que con carisma muchas veces llevan a buen puerto.

El año pasado logré raptar montones de momentos así en el Sónar; ya lo vimos aquí con bandas como Katy B o Four Tet, entre otros, a quienes les logramos sacar alguna sonrisa en el backstage y algunas muy buenas tomas durante sus presentaciones históricas.

Este año volveremos, y será para poder escuchar en vivo a Lana del Rey -a quien presentamos aquí el Septiembre pasado y de la cuál desconocíamos entonces el fenómeno que podría llegar a ser a estas alturas del año-, o poder celebrar el primer Sónar de nuestros queridos amigos de Stand Up Against Heart Crime o de una de las bandas que más curiosidad nos despierta al haber descubierto su éxito, ‘Kelly‘ y que no hemos parado de escuchar desde que la presentamos.

Hoy llega con nosotros la banda que seguramente nos robará el corazón en vivo y de la cual todo el mundo no para de hablar, Metronomy, con su último álbum The English Riviera y la canción que tenemos como número uno en nuestra lista de Youtube: The Look, un éxito brutal en su carrera profesional y que seguramente muchos esperan en su gira europea.

Nada más que decir; Sónar 2012 es un evento que no os podéis perder. Nosotros lo veremos en Barcelona, pero este año sus versiones en São Paulo, Tokio y Cape Town son la oportunidad perfecta para que los que estáis alrededor del mundo podáis disfrutar de los grandes artistas que este evento nos ofrece y, si alguien nos deja su sofá mientras vamos a todos los festivales, ¡¡mucho mejor!!

Although I can imagine how difficult it can be getting one of their Valentina Shoulder (the one on the picture, courtesy of Clothes Horse NYC) or Valentina Satchel designs (übersold out since its launching in all its colour variations) if any of the lucky attendants would manage to get an extra one and then send it to the West Coast for me I would be (oh!) so happy. And I’m not even gonna go picky with the colour, huh…

Esta joven autodidacta de diecinueve años se declara una apasionada de las imágenes coloridas e intensas que transmiten felicidad y admite que, desde que cogió su cámara por primera vez hace ya más de un año, no ha dejado de fotografiar todas las cosas bonitas que la rodean.

The latest collection by Argentinian designer Bossini Pithod for this season portrays a summer siesta at sunset on any summer day in black, blue, grey and white. A floral print as a suggestive garden, a bohemian an easy-going mood that results in fluid silhouettes and natural and light fabrics like linen or cotton voile.

La última colección del diseñador argentino Bossini Pithod para esta temporada retrata una siesta veraniega al caer la tarde en un día cualquiera de verano en negros, azules, grises y blancos. Un estampado floral a modo de sugerente jardín, un aire bohemio y desenfadado que se traduce en líneas fluidas y tejidos naturales y ligeros como el lino o el voile de algodón.
