Lana del Rey — Video Games
I love the sensation of power in creating expectations about something from which there is nothing yet, and how writers like me can benefit from that in order to write biographies that are at this moment still unauthorised.
A couple of weeks ago, a video of a girl named Lizzy Grant (although I am still unsure as to the authenticity of her name), A.K.A. Lana del Rey began to circulate on the net, which for any music critic like me could simply not be ignored; maybe it’s because of her voice, her physical attractiveness, her energy, or her personality in general, or because of all the mystery surrounding her identity and the amount of comments she has been receiving from the media. Quite simply, for all of this she has captured the attention of the specialist music press.
I generally don’t like comparisons but in this case I have heard many stylistic parallels being made with blues and dark pop which in my mind, full of imagination, recreated a fantasy duet between Amy Winehouse and Bette Davis.
The videos that I saw during those first weeks on the Internet left me with many fears as to what would happen next until, at last, the official Facebook page appeared followed by the MySpace announcement that there would be an official launch at the end of September and the album release in early October.
I hope that this song, which I would like to share with you today, will inspire in you the same hallucinatory way it has done with me over the last few weeks. My friends have already asked me to stop playing it over and over again and I think my upstairs neighbour must already know the lyrics by heart having heard me playing it so often. So, I hope my suggestion for today, after a month away on holidays, will be the song that sums up the end of this summer and that you will listen to it again and again, feeling the same good vibrations that it has evoked in me.

Me encanta la sensación de poder crear expectativas ante algo que sale de la nada y como escritores como yo podemos aprovecharnos de esto para comenzar a redactar biografías aún no autorizadas.
Hace un par de semanas comenzó a circular por internet el vídeo de una chica llamada Lizzy Grant (dudo aún de la autenticidad de su nombre), A.K.A. Lana del Rey, que a los críticos musicales no nos ha dejado indiferente, quizá por su voz, su atractivo físico, su energía, o en general, por todo el misterio acerca de su identidad y los comentarios que llegan de todos los medios. Simplemente, esta chica está acaparando la atención de la prensa especializada.
No me gustan las comparaciones, pero ya se oyen muchísimos paralelismos con estilos blues y dark pop que en mi cabeza, llena de fantasía, podrían recrear a una Amy Winehouse cantando a dúo con Bette Davis.
Los vídeos que pude ver durante las primeras semanas en internet dejaban entrever muchísimas dudas, hasta que por fin salió la página oficial de Facebook y más adelante su MySpace anunciando el lanzamiento oficial a finales de Septiembre y el disco a principios de Octubre.
Espero que esta canción que os comparto el día de hoy os deje igual de alucinados como a mí me ha dejado durante las últimas semanas. Mis amigos me piden que deje de ponerla una y otra vez y creo que mi vecina de arriba ya debe saberse las letras de memoria de tanto escucharla, así que espero que la recomendación que os traigo después de un mes ausente debido a mis vacaciones sea la oportunidad para poner una canción a este final de verano, para que la escuchéis una y otra vez y para que os haga vibrar como lo ha hecho conmigo.
