Back for the Future
Some days ago I got an email talking about the auction Nike is carrying out on eBay with 1.500 pairs (55 every day) of the mythic sneaker Nike MAG -the one that Marty McFly was wearing in Back to the Future II- until the next September, 18th; all this could be a mere funny freak-film-lover anecdote if it wasn’t because all the benefits of the auction are being donated to Michael J. Fox Foundation, the one created by the famous actor in his personal battle against Parkinson.
Almost three months ago, my grandfather died after many -too many- years suffering this cruel illness (which chronic and degenerative pathology is not cruel, actually?) so after having lived with it so close I can’t do no other thing than applauding Nike for this initiative, hoping it will serve as inspiration for other big companies.

Hace unos días recibí un email acerca de la subasta que Nike está llevando a cabo en eBay con 1.500 pares (55 por día) de la mítica zapatilla Nike MAG -la que Marty McFly calzaba en Regreso al Futuro II- hasta el próximo 18 de Septiembre; todo quedaría en una divertida anécdota de freak-cinéfilo si no fuera porque se están donando todos los beneficios de esta subasta a la Michael J. Fox Foundation, fundada por el célebre actor en su personal lucha contra el Parkinson.
Hace ya casi tres meses que falleció mi abuelo, tras muchos -demasiados- años padeciendo esta cruel enfermedad (¿qué patología crónica y degenerativa no es cruel, por otro lado?) así que tras haberlo vivido tan de cerca no puedo hacer otra cosa más que aplaudir a Nike por esta iniciativa y albergar esperanzas de que a otras grandes empresas les sirva de inspiración.
