How come, of all the recommendations talking about Magnolia none of them mentioned there is no place to seat in there? It was totally freezing that day and when we got to Bleeker St. at number 10 more or less we thought maybe it would be a good idea to walk till the bakery at 401 and once in there rest after the cold walk and enjoy a hot hot tea with a nice cupcake. Meeec! Mistake… It turned out to be only take away.

¿Cómo puede ser que, de todas las recomendaciones que recibí para ir a Magnolia ni una sola mencionara que allí no te puedes sentar? Hacía un frío terrible ese día y cuando aparecimos en Bleeker St. a la altura del número 10 creímos que quizás podríamos caminar hasta la pastelería en el 401 y entonces deleitarnos tras el largo y gélido paseo con un cupcake y un té bien caliente. Meeec! Error… Resulta que es only take away.

How come could Jil Sander’s coat for Uniqlo look so terribly bad on me? I happened to pass by the shop on mi first day to discover it was totally sold out but then I was told they would be getting some more on my last day in NYC. Right on time. I spent the whole week picturing myself looking fabulous with my new coat and when, after four days waiting I could finally try it on…mmm. Flattering would not be the word. The coat is amazing, the colour and the fabric are beautiful but there might have been some kind of communication problem between it and my body because they just seemed impossible to get on well with each other. The shop assistant pointed out the pattern used is Japanese. I wonder if I am supposed to find any comfort in this.

¿Cómo puede ser que el abrigo de Jil Sander para Uniqlo me quedara tan estrepitosamente mal? Tras llegar a la tienda de casualidad el primer día y comprobar que estaba súper agotado me informan de que llegarán más justo un día antes de que yo me vaya de NYC. Justo a tiempo. Me paso la semana entera visualizándome con mi abrigo y lo fantásticamente bien que me queda y cuando, tras cuatro días de espera me lo pruebo finalmente…mmm. Favorecedor no es la palabra. El abrigo es precioso, el color y el tejido son geniales pero creo que debía haber algún problema de comunicación entre él y mi cuerpo, porque simplemente no parecían poder entenderse. El dependiente me informa de que el patronaje es japonés. No sé si eso debe consolarme de alguna manera.
How come, walking among hundreds of people around Chinatown am I able to recognize a familiar face that, like me, is a total foreign in NYC? It was a matter of seconds that I managed to spot my friend Jesse from Creatures by Jesse Jr. in the crowd. Since he took me on a walk around L.A. more than two years ago, after interviewing him for H Magazine, we had not seen each other again so the two of us were responsible for the loudest OMG!! heard that day in The Big Apple. Obviously, we had to go and have dinner in Freemans next day so we could properly catch up.

¿Cómo puede ser que, caminando entre cientos de personas en Chinatown sea capaz de reconocer una cara familiar que, igual que yo, es totalmente ajena a NYC? Fue cuestión de segundos reconocer a mi amigo Jesse de Creatures by Jesse Jr. entre la multitud. Desde que me paseó por Los Ángeles hace ya más de dos años, tras entrevistarlo para H Magazine, no habíamos vuelto a vernos así que entre los dos soltamos todos los OMG!! más grandes que se oyeron ese día en la Gran Manzana. Obviamente, al día siguiente tuvimos que ir a cenar a Freemans para ponernos al día en condiciones.
